Charléty, la vie en bleu
Host of the 2020 European Athletics Championships, the parisian stadium will inaugurate its brand new track on Saturday, during the Paris Diamond League meeting.
In a year or so – on 25 August 2020 exactly – Charléty will see the athletes take their first steps at the Paris 2020 European Championships. Some of them will enjoy a first taste of the new blue track since the athletes who will attend the Paris meeting this weekend will have the honour of inaugurating it. With an added bonus: being the first among the world’s elite athletes to try out Mondo’s new Sportflex Super X 720 track.
As the official supplier of the event, Mondo supports the Paris 2020 Organising Committee in its desire to offer an event with a limited environmental impact. As such, the track was produced in the Gallo d’Alba plant which, in addition to meeting the latest international standards, is equipped with a photovoltaic system enabling it to reduce its carbon dioxide production by about 2,000 tonnes.
First performances to come before August 2020?
Question remains whether this new track will be as fast as the previous one. In any case, Mondo has a solid track record to defend: no less than 12 world records have been broken on one of the Parisian tracks (Stade de France for outdoor and Bercy for indoor) provided by the manufacturer. First element of answer Saturday at the Paris meeting for a preview of the performances that will take place at the end of August 2020.
