Paris is already buzzing
The annual indoor meeting at the AccorHotels Arena was held on Sunday, the first rendez-vous for the athletics in the French capital for 2020. The 7,000 fans attending proved it: impatience is growing with just over 200 days to go before the start of the European Championships.
The AccorHotels Arena went on fire last Sunday with a great show performed on the parisian track: an opening concert with the band Fills Monkey, sound and light animations and major performances – including the 17.77m triple jump performed by Hugues-Fabrice Zango, making him the fourth best indoor performer of all time. This was enough to make the many fans asking for more as an exciting season has just opened in Paris, with the Diamond League meeting on June 13, followed by the European Championships and its Festival Athle as a highlight end of August.
For some fans, the show and the emotions were also backstage, a few minutes before the competition. Marie-José Pérec and Eunice Barber, both members of the Paris Athlé 2020 Organising Committee, have performed as well, signing and taking selfies with the fans for almost 45 minutes. Parents and children were happy to exchange with the two former French champions, while trying to win tickets for the next meeting in Paris and other goodies. Everyone is ready to cheer for Paris 2020!
